HDB estates remain a hallmark of the unique identity that defines the daily lives of a vast majority of Singaporeans. 'Off-Centred Detours' spotlights this by conceptualising a regional field guide series highlighting unique offerings within some of Singapore’s heartland estates.
Starting off with Yishun and Sembawang, the inception of this project derives from
the country’s economic position in tourism. Deemed as an
island resort full of shopping,
attractions and various cultural experiences. This zine hopes to reframe neighbourhoods as destinations in their own right,
with a curated walkthrough of local offerings. It specifically aims to target visiting expats and tourists planning on exploring unique findings of Singaporean everyday life
away from the city centre. The format of this guide
was intentionally designed to be reminiscent of
travel pamphlets, long, slim, and easy to
carry with one hand.
